There has been some strange news about "BJ" the Karu Bear. It went like this. "BJ" disappeared. She was free to come and go as she wished but she always stayed home - maybe she really liked the food - and the company! Anyway for weeks she did not come home. And she was so close to Sheryn! Sheryn scoured the neighborhood and her neighbor told her he had shot the "possum". Sheryn was really so upset and very angry with her neighbor and told him off because he had shot and killed her prized pet. Well, the strange thing is that about a week ago "BJ" came back as large as life and back to her old tricks and jumping up on Sheryn's shoulder as friendly as before. Such happiness! Two good friends reunited. I have got my own theories about what happened. I will share it with you in another Blog. Anyway just now everybody, BJ and Sheryn and two more young friends are very very happy!

Karu Bear™ Life Cycle

The young baby Karu Bear is born just 17 to 18 days after mating. It is only about the size of a grain of rice when born. Like a koala or kangaroo the young baby crawls up the mother's tummy to a pouch and latches on to a teat. It will stay here for about 4 months before it starts to venture out. Then it will ride on its mother's back, learning about the environment and learning about what is good to eat. If the mother should get killed in the forest the young baby will try to adopt a human as its mother. Here is a video of 'BJ' who has adopted Sheryn as its mother and 'BJ' also likes to hitch a ride with Scooter the dog.

Karu Bear™ "BJ" and Sheryn

Hi! This is me. My name is "BJ"

This is my Mother  -  Sheryn. 
She takes good care of me so I love her.

 I like to ride on her shoulder and be close to her.

 I feel happy when I am close to Sheryn 
and can ride on her shoulder.

I would love to climb on to her hair 

but she does not let me do that.

I like to get up on to high places.

I hope that you will like me too

and you can get to know me.

I like children too so maybe one day you can come to play with me.

Just now I really love to be near my Mum - Sheryn

I have some brothers and sisters.

Sheryn looks after them too 
so maybe you can come to play with them.

I like to eat sweet fruit.

Perhaps you can bring me some.

I would love that.
